Different types of braces with our dentist
If you have crooked or wonky teeth then rest assured that you are not alone. Most people are troubled by a certain extent of misalignment of their teeth unless they have undergone orthodontic treatment very recently or they wear a permanent retainer. Even patients who undergo orthodontic treatment when they are younger can find that the positioning of their teeth changes as they get older and may wish to straighten their teeth once again. Whether you have straightened your teeth earlier on in life or as an adult you have decided you wish to straighten your teeth and improve the appearance of your smile, then our dentist Archway will be able to help you choose the correct braces.
Traditional braces with our dentist
There are many different types of braces to straighten your teeth thanks to advances in dental technology. Younger patients should consider traditional metal braces to straighten their teeth. This is because traditional metal braces are able to deal with a full range of orthodontic issues and provide long-lasting results. These braces are made up of brackets and wires that are attached to the front surface of your teeth and are tightened on a regular basis to exert constant pressure on the teeth and push them into a neatly aligned formation. This is ideal for younger patients who often have more complex orthodontic issues.
Adult braces with our dentist
As an adult you may wish to straighten your teeth in a discreet way. If so, traditional metal braces may not be top on your list. However, you will be pleased to know that there are many different types of braces that straighten your teeth very discreetly. Sometimes people will not even notice that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment unless you wish to tell them. Teeth can be straightened with clear braces which are similar to traditional metal braces but with more discreet components, for example tooth-coloured brackets and clear wires. You can also straighten your teeth with lingual braces which are the same as traditional metal braces, however these are custom-made and attached to the back of your teeth so that they cannot be seen from the outside. Both clear braces and lingual braces are effective at addressing complex orthodontic issues although they may take slightly longer to do so. They may also be more expensive than traditional braces, therefore, although our dentist Archway will advise you, your final decision will depend on your budget as well as your personal preferences.
